Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door !”

About the Exhibition:
Inspired by Emma Lazarus’s uplifting poem inscribed at the base of the Statue of Liberty, The New Colossus is a group exhibition featuring first-generation immigrant artists who left their home countries to pursue visual arts in New York City.
We have selected artists of similar backgrounds who represent a range of career stages and international origins; some have lived and worked in New York for over 30 years, while others have only recently completed their MFA theses.
In a political climate that often shows little sympathy toward immigrants, this exhibition seeks to highlight how profoundly immigrant artists from around the world contribute to the cultural and artistic fabric of New York City. Together, their works form a vibrant and thought-provoking portrait of cultural dialogue, perseverance, and imagination.
Please join us for the opening reception on Saturday, March 21, from 6–9 PM, to witness the colorful convergence of international creative minds gathered at our gallery.
